Torn..

Hey guys, today I'm going to talk about a fairly controversial subject, animal testing. This is a subject that definitely is very important to me cosmetics wise. I honestly believe in my heart that it is no longer necessary to test on animals when science has advanced as much as it has, but I have tried this boycotting thing before and found it really, really difficult because being in my last year of sixth form I do find I don't have a great lot of money and regardless, I'm generally not a big spender when it comes to make up, I only spend a lot if I'm really treating myself, so when things are on offer I am far more likely to buy them. The only thing is that you have to do a hell of a lot of research on buying certain things as one place will say that they don't test on animal and others are the complete opposite. Anyway, I think I'm going to try again, which means no more Max Factor mascara, sad times. However, I'm going to be on the look out for an alternative.

Don't worry by the way, I don't judge anyone at all on using products that test on animals, nor will I try to force my view on anyone else. I really hate it when people do that, preachers are massive pet hate for me. I am doing this within reason though obviously, as for example most companies will have ingredients that at one point in the past will have been tested whether they claim not to test or not, just because they don't anymore doesn't mean they never did. I feel that if they currently do not test on animals then that is fine by me :)

Rimmel London - really unsure about, as they are actively trying to find other solutions for animal testing and claim they don't do it, do they or not?

The cosmetic brands I know of that don't test are:

Home Brand Items such as Tesco and Marks & Spencers (They have the little rabbit on the back)

Revlon

Soap and Glory

Natural Collection (Boots)

Avon

MUA (Superdrug)

Liz Earle

Bourjois

ELF

Body Shop

Clinique

17 (Boots)

Lush

NYC

Nivea

Neutrogena

Benefit

Urban Decay

Sorry, I know these are mostly high street but that's where I mostly buy make up from, if you have anymore feel free to comment and tell me anymore companies or if you'd like me to find out some for you also let me know.

:)

  1. Totally in the same boat - don't agree with it at all, but when money's tight (poor student!) it's hard to have such strong morals when you're buying cosmetics.

    Good rant :)
